Changing with the Seasons

HAPPY MID-AUGUST!

I hope you were able to get out and see the beautiful Super Full Moon 🌕 in Aquarius ♒️ last night. Today the humidity broke here in the South and I got my first little niggle of fall 🍂 in the air! I am going to tell you right up front, fall is my season.

As I mentioned in the last newsletter, August is hard for me and part of it is being impatient for the next season. Instead of letting that happen, I make sure that August has its on special rituals and habits so I can stay intentionally present and not wish time away. Those practices include a lot of kitchen witchery with baking, canning and cooking meals with all the summer fresh produce being harvested. Some other rituals are early morning walks and late evening swims (to beat the heat) and also making sure to note and use the energies of the August New and Full Moons. What do you do to make August special for you?

I use to struggle with trying to keep my morning routines and other habits the same all year long. I would have good intentions to do them but at certain times of the year, things would get in the way or I wouldn’t feel called to practice - they felt like an obligation instead of something adding intentional joy and connection to my life. Of course, then I would be hard on myself for not making them a priority. When I learned from my Ayurvedic training (the ancient Holistic Medicine of Indial) that your habits and lifestyle need to change with the seasons as each season brings its own qualities and characteristics with it, it made so much sense. Realizing that different seasons need different things from our practices to create more harmony in our lives made all the difference.

Changing your mind, body and spirit practices and rituals with the seasons helps to reinvigorate and inspire your life with more intention. In upcoming posts, we will be looking at how to make seasonal changes to our mind, body & spirit practices in response to the changing seasons. Let me know where you feel you may need the most re-alignment as we move toward fall!

Intentionally yours,

Lara
