Magickal Mug

Three years ago, I found this cute fall mug with dogs on it and a girl sitting on a park bench reading a book. My mom and I shared both our love of reading and our love our dogs. Mom’s favorite breed was the Dachshund. Mine, up until this year, was the Yorkshire Terrier. Although this mug did not have a Yorkie on it, it did have an adorable Dachshund on it wearing reading glasses which reminded me of mom. Since it was so cute, I thought the mug was a perfect mother/daughter gift and so I got us each one to use during the fall season. Mom loved it, and it was on her counter one of the last times I went to her house before she passed away in 2021.

As I was making my first cup of coffee in the fall mug this season, I looked at the cute Dachshund on it and my mind went to thinking of my mom. As I focused in on the mug, I saw for the first time that the Dachshund is up on its hind legs as if reaching for the dog next to it - and I caught my breath as the realization hit. The dog next to it just happens to be a poodle. And not just any poodle, but a silver poodle!

You see, I lost my Yorkie barely a year after losing mom, and through a strange combination of coincidences, we ended up with our new silver toy poodle puppy in May of this year! And trust me, if you had ever told me I would own a poodle, I would have said there would be no way. To see Mom’s Dachshund playing with my Silver Poodle, made my heart feel so full! My mom always adored her grand pups and I felt sad she never got to meet our new one, Logan. In that moment, I knew deep down that Logan was sent by my mom to help heal our broken hearts. Sometimes a mug is just a mug. And sometimes, it’s a magical message of synchronicity and love from the universe.
