The Magick Behind Finding Our New Home

I have been asked by a few people, “Why did you choose Braselton to move to?”. There is a story behind it, and I want to share it with you because it involves synchronicities, intuition and intention, aka magick!
It all started in 2022, when we were on our way back from a trip to Pisgah National Forest. We wanted to get lunch before hitting ATL traffic and had Logan (our toy poodle) with us, so I found us a dog-friendly restaurant. It was in Braselton, a place we had never been. As we drove through the town, I remember thinking how quaint it was, and I immediately had a vision of us living here walking along the town green. I mentioned that to Keith, and he said maybe, but we are a long way from being able to move. And he was right, I was still bound by a contract that kept me local, Keith was nowhere near ready to retire, and my father was in failing health, so that was that.
The following year, we planned a close to home mini vacation with the goal of spending some time with our daughter, who lives close to Braselton. I suggested we stay in a dog-friendly hotel and ‘vacation’ there while also visiting her. We went to lunch at a great restaurant in downtown Braselton where Logan was welcomed on the patio and walked around the city. Feeling the pull for this place again, I mentioned to Keith that I really think I would like to live here someday. He responded wistfully, “It would be nice.”
Keith and I were already working on a long-term plan designed to move us closer to our daughter, but knew it would have to wait until he retired, I was out of my contract, and my father passed. My husband loves his job, and I was pretty sure he would not leave it until he had to. I felt rather hopeless about the possibilities of ever moving to Braselton or anywhere else for that matter.
Then our lives shifted. I lost my father in June 2023, the contract I was under dissolved, and I had the foresight to schedule a meeting with our accountant (my dad’s partner) to discuss Keith’s retirement options as he was approaching a milestone birthday. In addition, my brother moved and lives closer to our daughter as well. We found out on the day before our 13th wedding anniversary we could begin our retirement plans right now without Keith having to leave his job! All the synchronistic pieces were coming together. That is, if we could find the perfect house at a price we could afford.
I called a realtor, and we spent our anniversary looking at houses and having lunch in Braselton. I felt like it would take a while to find anything because we had a lot of items on our must-have list that would make it hard to find. Two days later, a house came on the market that appeared to check all of our boxes. I knew it was the house the moment I saw it. I just knew. A month later, we moved into our new home in the Braselton area, only twenty minutes from our daughter and my brother.
It can be a hard thing to trust your intuition (or gut instincts as some people call them), and it can be even harder to take actions to follow through on what your intuition is inviting you to do. I learned after many years of doubting my own intuition and instincts that ignoring them leads to missed opportunities or even worse, bad outcomes for me.
The Friday before last, we were at the weekly farmer’s market on the town green when I was hit by a wave of déjà vu. It took me a minute to place it, but then I did. We were living exactly the vision I had of us here the first time we visited. Learning to trust and develop my intuition, setting intentions with aligned actions and the awareness of these and the synchronicities around me created the magick to help us find our forever home.
