Welcome Fall!
π Happy Fall! π The autumn equinox begins Saturday, 9/23 at 2:50am EDT when the sun enters zero degrees of Libra. The themes of the equinox and Libra (the archetype of the lover) are all about partnerships, balance, fairness and a love of beauty, art and humanity.
The autumn equinox, also called Mabon in the wheel of the year, is the second of the harvest festivals. Fall is a transition season, so it is an optimal time to reflect on what changes you may want to make to support your own self care as we transition from the active, energy of summer into the more introspective, slower energy of winter.
Here are a few easy ways to embrace the fall and invite the seasonβs energy into your daily life:
π Switch up your morning beverage: Switching your regular coffee or other brew to a Maple Pecan or Pumpkin Spice flavored, or sipping warm apple cider or a fall tea blend instead can not only refresh your tastebuds, but help to awaken and stimulate the senses, so they are open to experience new things.
π Bake or enjoy fall treats such as apple cake and pie, pumpkin cookies and cheesecake or even spice cake. Using cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg and clove in your teas, baking and dishes also bring in the warming qualities of fall.
π Bring fall inside by decorating with pumpkins, pinecones, acorns, flowers cornstalks, etc. I love to change my home decor with the seasons as a way to help ritualize and embrace the season in a tangible way.
π Get out and hike, walk and/or bike in nature. Allow yourself to notice the changes in nature that start to take place this week and continue through the upcoming weeks as nature makes its own preparations for winter.
π Reflect on where you can bring more of this seasonβs equilibrium into your life to create more balance? Then spend time deciding what habits and routines you may want to change or improve, so that you are ready to enter the winter holidays with energy, enthusiasm and revitalized health. Once you have decided on these self care changes, prioritize them as non-negotiable on your schedule.
π One other important way to bring more joy into your season is to up your gratitude practice starting with a list of all that you are thankful for from the summer season. Gratitude practices = Joy in the Present moment!
As for myself, I will be enjoying fall hikes, baking, decorating the home and hosting our annual Fall Equinox Womenβs Circle and Celebration dinner to welcome fall into my life. I would love to hear what traditions you have and what you are doing?
